Longniddry Golf Club
An Introduction
Longniddry is traditionally laid out, with the first tee just a few steps from the locker room door and the 18th green sitting next to the clubhouse in full view of the west facing patio area, with amazing views to Fife, Edinburgh and Arthurs Seat. It’s a great spot for a sundowner after your round. Uniquely, the 13th green is also just 80 yards from the clubhouse which is perfect for those with limited time or who find 18 holes a few too many. To the east side of the clubhouse there is a practice putting green and practice nets to loosen up the muscles and fine tune your touch before heading to the first tee.
Formed in 1921, Longniddry Golf Club is situated on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, arguably the finest stretch of golfing coastline in Scotland, 18 miles east of Edinburgh and known as Scotland’s Golf Coast. Longniddry is the closest seaside links course to Edinburgh, comprising an unusual combination of woodland and links, with sea views from many holes.
Designed by Harry S Colt, with no par 5s for the men but 8 par 4s measuring over 400 yards, Longniddry Golf Club offers a very good test of golf for both members and visitors who come to enjoy some of the best golf in Scotland. The course has a par of 68 and the course record of 62 was set by amateur Mike Thomson of Peebles. Formerly an Open qualifying course, Longniddry Golf Club is regularly asked to host amateur competitions such as the LGA South East District Championship in September 2012 and, in May 2013, Longniddry Golf Club hosted the Scottish Ladies (Close) Amateur Championship. Longniddry Golf Club has hosted the US Kids European Championships for many years and in 2023 was the venue for the Scottish Girls Open Championship.
